The Palm Deira will be the world's largest man-made island once complete. It will be eight times bigger in land mass than the Palm Jumeirah and five times bigger than the Palm Jebel Ali. Palm Deira will be the largest island covering 14 km in length and 8.5 km in width. It will be a new city within the city of Dubai for more than a million people.

This unique man-made palm-shaped island will consist of a trunk, a crown with 41 fronds and a surrounding crescent island that will act as a water-breaker. Palm Deira will consist of residential property, marinas, shopping malls, sports facilities and clubs. The residential area will be located on the 41 fronds that will contain 8,000 two-storey villas/town houses in three distinct styles - Premier Villas, Grand Villas and Vista Town Homes.   

There will be a wide array of private and public beaches and marinas, shopping and dining outlets and several facilities for leisure and recreation. Residential units will be available for purchase and rent by all nationalities on freehold basis. All of the residences will be serviced by top-class housekeeping facilities, mega shopping malls, sports facilities, hotels, restaurants, retails outlets, clubs, public services and other lavish amenities to make life here a symbol of wealth and luxury.

Palm Deira Districts
Being the largest among the three Palm Islands, Palm Deira have been sub-divided into various districts.  These districts are:

  • Deira Island
  • Palm Crown
  • Palm Fronds
  • Palm Crescent
  • Palm Trunk
  • North Island
  • South Island
  • Central Island
  • Al Mamzar Island

All these districts or islands with have distinctive features, housing system and entertainment facilities and other hotels and malls of their own that will set them apart from others.

Up till now, approximately 20% of the land reclamation is complete. More than 200 million cubic meters of sand has already been used for reclamation which is more than 80% of what has been used for Palm Jumeirah. Due to its large size and magnitude, the island will be completed in specific phases. The first phase Deira Island will be connected by bridges with the current area of Deira, between the mouth of Dubai Creek and Port Hamriya. Deira Island will act as "the gateway to The Palm Deira" and help to revitalize the aging area of Deira. It is expected to finish by 2015.

The master plan of Palm Deira aims to create a high quality environment that will set new standards of living and sustainable development providing highest value to urban design.  Special important has been given on providing multiple access points and developing meaningful public transport system that includes extension of the Dubai Metro, tram and other water networks.
